STARBASE-ATLANTIS
. . . Educating the student of today for the world of tomorrow through hands-on Math, Science, and Technology . . .
Peace Lutheran School participates in a special “hands on” science program entitled STARBASE ATLANTIS.
This program offers 5th & 6th grade students with a learning experience designed to increase knowledge and interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These activities also help students to develop positive self-esteem, focus on setting and achieving personal goals. Team work is emphasized throughout the curriculum, teaching students to work and communicate effectively with others.
The STARBASE-ATLANTIS curriculum focuses on STEM and includes astronomy, model rocketry, the properties of fluids, Newton’s laws of motion, the scientific process, the physics of flight for both airplanes & submarines and more. Students design and engineer a habitat module using a CAD program and build their own 3-D computer simulated space station.
The STARBASE-ATLANTIS program is a five day field trip experience held at the Naval Education and Training Command (N.E.T.C.) at Sub base Bangor in Silverdale Washington.
